Understanding the procedure

A closer look at what happens, and why it works

What the procedure does

Your own hair, moved to where it’s thinning

In a transplant, healthy follicles are taken one by one from the back and sides of your scalp (where hair is permanent) and placed across the thinning or receding areas β€” shown filling in here in the diagram. Because they’re your own follicles, the result is natural and permanent: the transplanted hair keeps growing for life.

What we coordinate

The hair restoration we handle

From the main transplant techniques to optional extras β€” here's what we coordinate for you in Bangalore.

FUE & DHI

Follicular Unit Extraction and Direct Hair Implantation β€” no linear scar, natural placement, quick healing.

Beard & eyebrow

Beyond the scalp, we also coordinate beard, moustache and eyebrow restoration.

PRP add-on

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is available as an optional add-on to support growth.

The procedure in detail

How a hair transplant actually works

The donor area — why it lasts

The hair at the back and sides of your scalp is genetically resistant to the hormone (DHT) that causes male-pattern thinning. That's why it stays put while the crown and hairline recede. A transplant takes follicles from this permanent "donor" zone and relocates them — and because they keep their original resistance, they continue to grow for life in their new position. The donor area is dense enough that careful extraction leaves no visible change.

FUE vs DHI — two ways to place the grafts

Both are modern, minimally-invasive techniques that extract follicles one by one — neither leaves the long linear scar of the old "strip" method. The difference is in how grafts are placed:

FUE

Follicular Unit Extraction. Channels are created in the recipient area, then grafts are placed into them. The established, versatile workhorse — excellent for large sessions and full coverage.

DHI

Direct Hair Implantation. A Choi implanter pen creates the channel and places the graft in one motion, giving fine control over angle and density — often chosen for hairlines and smaller, precise areas.

What the day itself is like

A session runs for most of the day — typically four to eight hours depending on the number of grafts. It's done under local anaesthetic, so you're awake and comfortable throughout; most people read, watch something, or doze. The surgeon first maps and agrees your new hairline with you, then extracts and places each follicular unit by hand, controlling the angle, depth and direction so the result grows the way natural hair does. You go back to your accommodation the same day — there's no overnight hospital stay.

What makes the result look natural

A natural result is about artistry as much as technique: a slightly irregular (not ruler-straight) hairline, single-hair grafts at the very front graduating to denser multi-hair units behind, and follicles placed at the correct angle and direction for each zone of the scalp. This is why surgeon experience matters far more than any single "technique" — and why we coordinate experienced, high-volume teams rather than the cheapest chair.

Aftercare and the shedding phase

Tiny scabs form around each graft and fall away within a week or two. Around weeks two to six the transplanted hairs shed — this is completely normal and expected; the follicle stays safely in place and simply resets into a new growth cycle. New growth appears from around month four and thickens steadily, with the full result visible by roughly twelve to eighteen months. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) can be added to support healing and growth, and your team gives you a simple home-care routine for the first weeks.

The three tiers

Which tier fits you?

Hair loss is staged by how much area needs covering β€” which sets the number of grafts and therefore the clinic cost. Rather than asking you to guess a graft count, we group it into three simple tiers. Your surgeon confirms the exact count and final price at consultation; our flat facilitation fee stays the same across all three.

Tier 1 β€” Early

~1,000–2,000 grafts

A receding hairline, temple filling, or a small crown patch β€” usually a single short session. The starting point for most early hair loss.

Tier 2 β€” Moderate

~2,000–3,500 grafts

The frontal third plus mid-scalp, or a noticeable crown. The most common case we coordinate.

Tier 3 β€” Advanced

~3,500–5,000+ grafts

Large-area coverage, sometimes across two sessions a day or two apart. For more extensive loss.

Common questions

Hair transplant, answered

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, so the scalp is numbed and you're awake but comfortable throughout. Most people read, watch something or doze. There can be mild soreness for a day or two afterwards, managed with simple pain relief.

Yes. The follicles are taken from the back and sides of your scalp, which are genetically resistant to the hormone that causes male-pattern thinning. They keep that resistance in their new position, so the transplanted hair continues to grow for life.

Transplanted hairs shed in the first few weeks — this is normal and expected. New growth begins around month four and thickens steadily, with the full result visible by roughly twelve to eighteen months.

FUE and DHI extract follicles one by one, so there's no long linear scar like the older 'strip' method. The donor area heals as tiny dots that aren't visible once your hair grows back.

Around weeks two to six the transplanted hairs fall out while the follicle resets into a new growth cycle. The follicle stays safely in place — shedding is a normal part of the process, not a failure.

A hair transplant is a single day-case procedure. Most patients are in Bangalore for three to eight days — enough for the consultation, the procedure, a first wash and an aftercare briefing before flying home.

Your journey

From consultation to flying home

A hair transplant is a single day-case procedure with a short, easy recovery β€” most patients fly home within a few days, and results appear gradually over the following months.

Before

Online consultation

You share photos of your hairline; the surgeon assesses your case, confirms the tier, graft count and a fixed price before you travel.

Day 1

The procedure

A single-day session under local anaesthetic. You’re awake and comfortable throughout β€” grafts are extracted and placed one by one.

Days 2–3

Aftercare & fly home

A first wash and aftercare briefing. Tiny scabs around the grafts are normal. Most patients fly home within a few days.

Weeks 2–4

Shedding phase

Transplanted hairs shed β€” this is expected and temporary. The follicles stay and begin a new growth cycle.

Months 4–8

New growth

New hair starts to appear and thicken steadily across the treated area.

Months 12–18

Full result

The transplant matures into its final density and blends naturally with your existing hair.
